2003 Highlights/Seeing Is Believing

The Dallas Convention Center was the place to be June 22 through 24 as the Southwest foodservice industry revealed itself as the hottest in the nation. There was food and flavor around every corner. Eating and drinking establishment sales in the Southwest are expected to grow 5.79 percent in 2003, with sales reaching over $50 billion. The Southwest Foodservice Expo is the one-stop-shop for the foodservice professional, offering personal interaction between buyers and sellers, on-the-spot deal making, the chance to test-drive the latest equipment, attend professional development seminars paneled by the best in the industry and taste the hottest culinary trends prepared by top-notch chefs.

“I was very pleased with the attendance and the amount of leads that were generated at my booth. Actually, I received twice as many leads as I had anticipated,” said Michael Woods of C&M Fine Pack, a first time exhibitor.

  • 29,793 foodservice executives, managers and employees walked the show floor testing out equipment & technology, sampling the array of food and beverage products and making on the spot deals during the 2003 Southwest Foodservice Expo
  • Attendance for the 2003 Southwest Foodservice Expo increased 2.9 percent
    over 2002
  • 1,039 booths covered the Dallas Convention Center exhibiting everything from kitchen wares to small wares, from sliced cheesecake to slip resistant shoes
  • 2003 exhibitors donated 14,076 pounds of food to the North Texas Food Bank, an organization that seeks to eliminate hunger by distributing food and grocery products through a network of nonprofit organizations
