Crowds flocked to the Showtenders stage to watch as competitors in the Southwest Showdown Bartending Competition were evaluated on speed, skill and accuracy by the world’s number one bartender and beverage consulting agency. Demonstrations and competitions included bottle throwing, tricks, trivia, balancing and pour skill.

2000 Southwest Menu Awards

The finest menus in the Southwest were on display throughout Expo to highlight the winners of the 2000 Southwest Menu Awards. The contest recognizes restaurants that lead the industry in marketing their food and beverages through creative and effective menu design.

The winners for average check below $15 are as follows:

  • Best Menu Design - Hudson’s Classic Grill of El Paso
  • Best Beverage Menu - The Khaki Club at Ouisie’s Table of Houston.
  • Most Creative Menu - Genghis Grill of Dallas.
  • Best Dessert Menu - Larissa House of Jacksonville.
  • Best Kids Menu - Filling Station of Austin.
  • Best Overall Menu - Tejas Cafe and Bar.
