ProStart is a pioneering school-to-work program that introduces high school juniors and seniors to the foodservice industry, teaching them the basic skills and knowledge they need to succeed in business. During the two-year program, students experience a dynamic, comprehensive curriculum coupled with on-the-job work experience and mentoring in local restaurants.

Developed by foodservice professionals, the ProStart curriculum provides instruction for 25 subject areas ranging from basic food preparation, accounting and cost control, to sanitation and marketing.
The program requires 400 work-based hours in which local businesses provide students with experience operating and managing a foodservice establishment.
As students meet ProStart’s high academic standards, they are awarded certificates which count toward credit hours at participating colleges in Texas and across the country.
